Committee Reports

  • Membership reported 47 current members, 1 sustaining member

  • Training deferred to new business

  • Web-site had no report

  • Standards and training- Chief Yarbrough advised updated rules and guides will be on the website as of May 4, 2010.

Association News

  • GAFC Chief Tully reported that we lost on the sprinkler bill, and that both small bills passed. Encouraged all to attend joint conf. AUG. 4-7 Discussed SR 513. Please give input on this process.

  • GSFA Capt. King promoted Joint Conf. Members also voted to add new board position which will 3rd. Vice President. Noted that GSFA membership is down.

  • SEAFC Chief Hannon stated as of June 1 he is stepping down as SEAFC rep.

  • GFSTC Britt Brinson reported that the Pro-Board evaluated for NPQ program. They have visited 300+  fire department and 1000+ station. Encouraged all to make sure rosters are up to date.

  • Pension Fund David Luther reported things are getting better but do not look for a COLA raise anytime soon

  • Inspectors Assoc. L. Green advised Lowndes Co. hosting meeting on May 20

Old Business

  • Election of 1st. V.P.

  • C. Tully requested  for Littleton to read roll. Ballots were issued. Mr. Hornsby membership in question. Parliamentarian requested it to be paid again and refunded when Littleton checks records. Hornsby did so. Candidates then given 3 minutes. Hornsby went first, then Yarbrough. Yarbrough then requested to withdraw from ballot. Motion made by O’Berry seconded by King. Motion passed.

  • Treasurer post retained by Littleton

New Business

  • Capt. King proposed that SOWEGA form a training division in light of the reduced services offered by GFA especially after July 1. Offered that potential instructors fill out applications to teach. Offered that departments wanting to participate pay an approximate $250 annual fee. He also asked for input.

Good of Association

  • ISO update by Freyer that they are enforcing 4 on roster and 4 at each fire rule. Yarbrough asks if we should look into another AFG grant. Possibly for regional accountability. Hannon discussed the Moultrie/CCVFA system of colored tags.
